President and Founder: Emma Linscomb

Hello everyone! My name is Emma Linscomb, and I’m currently a senior. Nearly two years ago, I founded this club because I wanted to create a support system for any women interested in pursuing a STEM career. I have always been interested in science, especially astrophysics. Even when I was little, my dad used to read me a book on the periodic table before bed. Starting this club has been amazing because I’ve connected with people who have stories similar to mine. I’m so happy to spend my last year of high school leading this club!

Vice President: Juliane Richman

Hi!! My name is Juliane Richman and I am a senior at MHS. For my whole life I have been very good at problem solving, math, and science directly leading to my interest in engineering. Ever since I took my fist engineering and problem solving class in 8th grade I have been in love with the subject. I heavily believe in the importance of educating others on different STEM careers and love to learn more about STEM myself. Participation in this club is an excellent way to do that. If you ever have ideas for future meetings feel free to reach out to me or one of my other board members we will always take your input into consideration.

Secretary: Heesoo Kim

Hey! My name’s Heesoo Kim, and I’m currently a senior at Memorial. I’ve always been inclined toward math and science curriculums over humanities, and since I’ve started high school I think I’ve enjoyed AP Chemistry the most. (Math is definitely easier of a subject, but the sciences are just more compelling.) I’m interested in a STEM career, specifically medicine, and I’m looking forward to this club to provide me an opportunity to share my interests with others in a similar position as me as a STEM-field-optimist. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns about the club; I can relay your message to other executive members or help voice your opinion during board meetings!

Website Chair: Camilla Pearson

Hello!! I’m Camilla Pearson, and I am a senior at MHS. My parents forced me into learning Python when I was like 7 , and since then I’ve continued to be interested in STEM, particularly CS. Computer good. I also really love chemistry!!!! I am excited to be a part of this club, because STEM is important to me, and I’d love to find out more about other people's interests and make STEM related opportunities more accessible.

Website Chair: Phoenix Nguyen

Hi! My name is Phoenix Nguyen, and I am really looking forward to being a part of this club! I am a senior at MHS, and have always been drawn to the math and sciences. I have studied in a few fields of science, such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Computer Science, and I enjoy learning about each subject and seeing how they connect to each other. I am so excited to be a part of this club and have the opportunity to meet others who have similar interests while learning more about STEM careers.

Social Chair: Lucy Huthnance

Hi everyone! I’m Lucy Huthnance and I am one of the WIS Social Chairs for the 2022-2023 school year! I plan on further pursuing STEM in college, and think WIS is an amazing opportunity to express that interest. Math and science have always been the most interesting classes for me and the classes I’ve excelled in, and I think it’s so important for us to be able to join together with our common interests. I’m so excited to work with everyone this year!

Social Chair: Abigail Tomaski

Hello everyone! I’m Abigail Tomaski and I am a senior at Memorial. I am super excited to be one of the social chairs for WIS! Although I really do enjoy learning in all of my classes, I have always had a special interest in my math and science classes. After high school, I hope to utilize my interest in STEM as an engineer. More specifically, I want to study how engineering plays into the medical field and ultimately help to solve some of the unknowns in our society’s understanding of medicine. Looking forward to a fun year!

Outreach Chair: Beth Martinez

Hey y’all! My name is Beth Martinez and I’m excited to be WIS’s returning Outreach Lead for my senior year! I’m looking forward to another year of fun activities with local elementary schools and within the MHS community. As someone interested in business and renewable energy, part of why I love STEM is to learn about innovations that can dramatically change how our society consumes and produces energy. WIS is a great opportunity for me to explore my passion for business and my interest in sustainable, groundbreaking technology.

Outreach Chair: Bree Dang

Hey guys! I’m Bree Dang and I am so excited to be part of WIS 2022-2023! I’m currently a junior at memorial high school and I’ve alway had an interest in science with a dream to become a dermatologist! I want to take this interest and expand my education in college to be in the pre-med track. WIS is an amazing opportunity for me to explore my passion and interest in STEM. Can’t wait for this opportunity to work with everyone!

Event Chair: Hatien Nguyen

Although I was originally interested in majoring in pre-law or international relations, learning chemistry was surprisingly gratifying, which prompted my change in choice of major. With a degree in chemistry, I plan on going to law school and becoming a patent attorney. Joining and having a position in this club means a lot to me as it solidifies my passion for chemistry.

After high school, I’m planning on studying something in the math field, because that is the subject that I’ve always been the most interested in. Being a part of WIS is an amazing opportunity to collaborate with y’all to help each other find what we’re passionate about and continue learning! I can’t wait to get started!
